In troubled times, all branches of showbiz are shown to provide a crucial tonic in this edition of the March of Time newsreel, showing the important role stars contribute to information, escapism and entertainment. American’s personalities of the day are recruited by the government to contribute to ongoing war activities and keep morale high. Big stars of the day including Carole Lombard are vital in rallying and relaxing the troops, while John Ford and Walt Disney’s studios produce films to counteract negative propaganda, proving that show business’ role in war is key.
