It’s Coronation Year – 1953 – and Denbigh is celebrating with a carnival (during which a little Beefeater is shunted by the Coronation Queen’s car but no harm done), a children’s tea party in the High Street’s Reading Room, distribution of Coronation mugs to pupils at Frongoch School and the cutting of the town’s Coronation Cake by the mayor and mayoress.
