Wolverhampton Councillor
Described by colleagues as modest and with a social conscience, Labour councillor Shadi Sharma walks the streets of his Wolverhampton ward amid the rubble of dereliction.
From the collection of:

Overview
Shadi Sharma was elected to Wolverhampton Borough Council in 1973 becoming the town's first Asian councillor. Here we see him doing what all councillors should do: walking the streets of his ward and meeting people. Smouldering demolition sites and families hopeful for a better future are some of the social issues he faces. Includes glowing tributes to the sympathetic young man of local politics from fellow councillors Mordecai James and John Bird.
