Royal Visit to Harrow
Harrow hosts the royal bandwagon as the future King and Queen visit the school and the country's prettiest cottage hospital
Overview
The royal bandwagon rolls into historic Harrow - home of a famous school and a now largely forgotten hospital. The occasion was the opening of the new Stuart Memorial Extension at the renamed Harrow & Wealdstone Hospital. As part of the ceremony the Duke of York gave an informed speech describing the nation's gratitude for private donations to such voluntary hospitals - aided by the vocal training that was portrayed in the 2010 film The King's Speech.
The Duke and Duchess of York, with little notion that they would be King and Queen by the end of the decade, are seen performing their seemingly gender-specific duties. The Duke inspects a guard of honour from the Harrow School Officer Training Corps; the Duchess gives the Harrow Nursing Division the once over at the Roxeth-Hill Cottage Hospital.
