How does long term unemployment affect personal relationships and wellbeing? World in Action investigates in Batley, West Yorkshire.
Overview
Amid rising unemployment, World in Action consider not only the economics but the personal cost of life on the dole. This is a humane portrait of struggling Batley residents, including a group of young British Asian men and some older workers facing redundancy. Interviewees report feeling isolated and depressed but, with hope in short supply, two friends also take a bit of time to go rabbiting.
