To Hell with Accidents
Merchant seamen beware! The Devil's Director of Accidents is on board in this imaginative training film promoting safety at sea.
Director: Ken Daley
Overview
Think health and safety training films are boring? Think again! Sponsored by the British Shipping Federation to remind merchant seamen to stay vigilant at sea, this droll homage to exploitation cinema sees the 'Devil's Director of Accidents' sneak on board a cargo ship in an attempt to up the maiming and fatality quota. Will the crew survive the voyage? Exotic locations add a Bond-franchise feel.
As well as this complete film, the BFI National Archive holds a number of shorter training films relating to specific accidents on board ship, including Aerial Electrocution, Leg in Fridge Door and Thumb Amputation in Galley.
