He and She
Writer and actress Roma T Roma stars as a young wife upset at her husband's poor time-keeping skills in this short comic sketch.
Overview
This short comic scene, written by Roma T Roma, the actress we see here with comedian Frank T Wood is from a wordless sketch called He and She, which they had performed up and down the country in music halls since 1894. It shows a young wife, furious at the late return of her husband, bombarding him with domestic objects before he placates her with a well-timed gift. The large format 68mm print from the BFI National Archive collection seen here is a fragment of a longer version. Perforation holes are visible in the print where someone has attempted to project the film using a different projector to the Biograph’s unperforated system.
