Roll up, roll up! An outlandish circus parade wows the streets of Victorian Huddersfield
Camels and elephants marching through the streets of Huddersfield? Sounds like the circus has come to town, and it has brought crowds and a film camera with it. It is almost certainly 'Lord' George Sanger's Circus, which presented a range of historical tableaux along with the animals. A report on Sanger's visit to the town in 1899 highlighted 'Tipster', the clairvoyant horse, and a reconstruction of Lord Kitchener's victory in Sudan using model Nile boats.
