This is indeed a street scene, but it’s difficult to say where – America, perhaps, or South Africa? Among the clues to the location of this film are things like costume, which suggest the 1890s. There is a mixture of transportation from horse drawn buggies to bicycles. The street is unusually wide, with large telegraph poles running down the centre - so a good-sized town, with need of communications crossing a wide area. The distinctive tower on the right offers another clue.
