Employees of Marshall's Engineering Works, Gainsborough (1908)
Edwardian engineers and their marvellous machines at Britannia Ironworks, Lincolnshire.
Overview
There is scarcely a woman to be seen in this film of employees and their engines at the agricultural machinery manufacturers Marshall's, whose Britannia works still stands on Beaumont Street, Gainsborough. Engineering required a literate workforce, as shown by the number of men buying newspapers or taking flyers from showmen to find out where and when the scenes being filmed would be screened.
