The Peak National Park
Accomplished film director Anthony Armstrong, aged 11, presents his fascinating film about a family holiday in Derbyshire's Peak District
From the collection of:
Overview
Starting with views of the Peak District landscape we arrive at the village of Castleton. After visiting limestone crags for some rock bashing we arrive at the enormous entrance to Peak Cavern followed by Blue John Caves and Treak Cliff Cavern. From Mam Tor we see Kinder Scout in the distance followed by a family enjoying their picnic by a mountain stream. Many sheep, walkers, pony trekkers and climbers appear in the film as well as a reservoir built over the village of Derwent.
Anthony Armstrong was taught how to make films by his mother, Beryl, who is also a prolific film maker, and author, in her own right. Like his mum, Anthony and his brother, Richard, made a great number of short documentaries, animated films and comedies.
