Overview
GP Dr John Glyn Jones, who lives in Brynsiencyn, has arrived by car in Newborough, Anglesey, as has the milk-man with his churns on a horse-drawn cart and the motorised mobile shop. The doctor has his camera with him and villagers/patients are delighted or dismayed to be caught on film, going about their daily business. Some are prevailed upon to stand on their front doorsteps in order to be recorded for posterity. A man from Tanpencefn, Brynsiencyn, is seen with his jackdaw.
John Glyn Jones was from Nefyn where his parents kept a general store after his father Evan Williams Jones, a ship's captain, had retired from the sea. His uncle Robert J Jones [known as Robin] was the Nefyn pharmacist and recorded 1930s/40s community life on film. Inheriting his equipment, John Glyn continued filming from the 1940s to the 1970s. He was married to Mair (nee Humphreys), from Denbigh, also a doctor, who worked as Assistant Medical Officer for Anglesey County Council. They had two daughters – Annes and Marred – who both became writers.
