The Land of Grot
Join Fluff, Dripple, Prickle, Hughie Bluie and Tully Grully Grumble on a trip to Pleasure Island
Overview
How could a cartoon with a name like Land of Grot not catch on? A series of five books by illustrator Coral Ann Rapley introduced the characters Fluff, Dripple, Prickle, Hughie Bluie and Tully Grully Grumble in the late 1960s. This animated pilot for a sadly unrealised series retains much of the colour of the books and introduces a simpler, cartoon narrative.
Director Ralph Ayres, and animators Edric Radage and Arthur Humberstone had met at Gaumont-British Animation after WWII, and all three had worked as key animators on Britain’s first animated feature film Animal Farm (1954).
