        Overview

Young Farmers compete in demonstrations of skill at an event in the grounds of Margam Castle. They hedge, fence, manoeuvre tractors, truss chickens, display scarecrows they have made, speak publicly with confidence and put together milking machine components in 5 minutes. The sun shines, prizes are awarded, and the castle grounds, where lie the beautiful ruins of Margam Abbey, are there to be explored.

Shot by R G Iles, who worked for Imperial Tobacco’s Bonus Department in Cardiff and was a founder member of The South Wales and Monmouthshire Agriculture and Horse Shows Association for which body he would film local shows during the summer and present the finished films at screenings during the winter.
