Where You Live
Concrete box housing, or homes for today and tomorrow? A million miles from Grand Designs, one of Britain's biggest builders makes their case.
Overview
An individual is looking for their own unique home - a place that fits their needs and aspirations. A local authority is looking for housing on an industrial scale, and within a budget. Laing was one of the massive construction companies that sought to help the twain meet: this promotional essay film makes a rather defensive case for their industrialised building system - Easiform.
The known locations in the film are New Addington, Surrey; Rowlatts Hill, Leicester; and Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. Schemes in South Wales are also featured, and there are glimpses of other estates.
