Wembley 'Washed Out' Too

A damp Wembley hosts the closing ceremony for the Empire Exhibition, attended by the Price of Wales and mud-splattered pipers.

After drawing huge crowds, the Empire Exhibition at Wembley closed amid a torrential downpour in November 1924, before reopening the following year. As this films shows, a huge crowd still turned out at Wembley Stadium to see the Price of Wales and various army bands, including pipers who tramp through pitchside puddles. The film is damaged in places.
