Overview

Young Farmers are out in Wool in Dorset volunteering in the community. The project involves clearing the village pond and making a garden. This is part of a film called Village Ventures showing the importance of the local Young Farmers’ Club in providing volunteers in rural communities. Wool is a large village in the Purbeck district which includes Bovington Army Camp. Woolbridge Manor House is the location of Tess's honeymoon in Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Urbervilles.

The National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs are one of the largest rural youth organisations in the UK bringing together members aged 10 to 26 with an interest in agriculture and rural life. The Federation supports young farmers in developing their skills and helps them volunteer in their local communities as well as volunteer in other countries in agricultural programmes. Young farmers are well known for having a fun social life.
