Admiral The Lord Wester Wemyss unveils a monument to WWI soldiers in this short news item
Kirkcaldly marks its fallen heroes of WWI in this official film, produced by the Gaumont company. The monument was erected in 1923, the centrepiece of a scheme that also included the Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery and the War Memorial Gardens, a gift of linoleum manufacturer John Nairn whose own son was among the dead. The grand unveiling came two years later, on 27 June 1925, overseen by the Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Wester Wemyss.
