UFO Sighting at Chagford
Mysterious flying saucer is witnessed hovering above the Church of St Michael the Archangel at Chagford.
In partnership with:

Overview
The sighting is witnessed by Thomas and Kate Marriott, Mathieu Vasseur and independently by Malcolm Rice on 4th January 1986 at around 6.15 pm. Devon’s own Area 51 cannot be likened to the secret military facility in US Nevada desert nor is it a tourist attraction for UFO followers. The 1947 Roswell air crash and U-2 spy plane development of the 1950s around Area 51 is when the United States Air Force coined the phrase Unidentified Flying Object and captured imagination.
Ghost rockets, foo fighters, flying saucers, ufoes do not conform to any conventional craft; phenomena including craft speed, ability to stay stationary and emit audible humming noises and bright lights are sometimes caught on camera. Although many governments including the US, the UK, Belgium and France have at some time or other investigated so called X files, and the truth should probably be out there, somewhere, it is thought about 20 to 30 per cent of UFO sightings are classed as unexplained. A sighting of a UFO landing near Ariel School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe for example was documented by international journalists and Harvard Professor, the psychiatrist John E Mack in 1994 but remains unexplained.
