Two Legs...Three Widows...And a near Miss

Vivid and alarming safety film shot at Teversal, Thoresby and Welbeck Collieries in Nottinghamshire.

Documentary 1977 20 mins Not rated

Overview

Fake blood alert! This film was intended as a fresh approach to accident awareness for coalminers, and it takes a melodramatic approach, which some viewers might find makes for an unintentional comedic effect. Not just a safety film, also a vivid social record, with a garish array of 1970s fashions in the opening wedding scene. Director Joan Duff was one a small number of women who had notable careers at the National Coal Board Film Unit.
