The Stefan Batory
Wonderful, evocative scenes at Tilbury dock as family members wave goodbye to relatives aboard an ocean liner.

Overview
A wonderfully old fashioned goodbye. The deft camerawork gorgeously encapsulates the moment a family bid adieu to relatives waving franticly aboard the TSS Stefan Bactory, the World's last regularly operated transatlantic liner. The journey from London-Montreal - at an average rate of 16.5 knots - would take approximately 8 days, but the featured Poolman family would dutifully return the visit – although by plane.
This film is from the collection of Richmond Local Studies Collection, a member of the London's Screen Archives Network.
