The Shrimpers of Southport
Push-nets, riddling and picking - the last days of the shrimping industry of Southport.

Overview
Filmmaker Dennis Sephton's colour reel of Southport shrimp fishermen is a valuable record of an industry in its declining years. The receding sea has made the shrimpers adapt their methods, and local historian Charles Abram and others recount the changes they have seen. Abram and his son Philip also demonstrate the use of hand held push-nets for fishing while wading through the waves.
