Overview

King George V and Queen Mary arrive home from India to cheering crowds at Portsmouth and London in this Gaumont newsreel item. The royal pair disembarked from the RMS Medina on Monday 5 February 1912, greeted by Lords of the Admiralty including Winston Churchill. The third and final Delhi Durbar, held by the British in December 1911, had been the centrepiece of an extensive royal tour of India and celebrated George V’s coronation a few months earlier.
