The Key
A comic animated parable on salvation and enlightenment made by the production team of Roobarb
Overview
God knows what this is all about, apparently. This film is one of a five part animated series on salvation and faith by the Centre for Radio & Television Communication (CTVC). Dialogue free comic cartooning proves a perfect vehicle for visual parables, such as this tale of a mystical key that offers a spiritual awakening to those who take it.
The films were directed by Bob Godfrey whose range is demonstrated by the fact that he had just finished the Roobarb (1974) series for children, won an Oscar for his mini-musical portrait of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Great (1975), and was about to release another animated sex comedy, Dear Margery Boobs (1977).
