The Gordon Highlanders parade over Edinburgh's (brand) New North Bridge

This film, possibly filmed as part of the opening ceremonies for the New North Bridge on the 15th September 1897, shows the Gordon Highlanders parading over the bridge with the Scotsman offices still under construction, in the background. The bridge accommodates a great deal of road traffic and spans over Waverley train station. Its opening marks a fascinating moment in Edinburgh's transformation into the modern city it is today.
