Overview

The mighty King Arthur class locomotive is followed through the stages of construction in this 'locomotive sidelight' newsreel, filmed during February and March 1925. We take a trip to Eastleigh works on the Southern Railway, where we see the construction of the first two Maunsell King Arthur class locomotives, King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. An interesting experiment follows, in which the strength of these mighty 4-6-0s can be seen.
