Gaumont Graphic's newsreel cameras pay a visit to Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies in Ipswich, a dedicated lawnmower works bracing itself for a seasonal sales boost. We see the factory's interior, with all manner of mowers and garden rollers, while an ingenious 'worm's-eye view' shot takes us a step closer to the action.
Fun-but-frivolous subject matter was the stock in trade of the newsreels, but this snappily comic item finds Gaumont Graphic at the top of their game. Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies was a major British manufacturing firm which specialised in agricultural equipment and state-of-the-art lawnmower production.
