The opening shot here is an absolute classic, as four women cram into motorbike and sidecar as they arrive at Chiswick open air swimming pool for a session. Note one passenger’s leg languorously dangling outside the sidecar. Scenes are just as louche inside, with splashing and poolside posing taking place in equal measure. A brilliant and unexpected look at 1920s London.
