Overview
A new running track in Broomfield Park, Southgate hosts the borough championships, with footage of numerous track and field events including the high jump, long jump and various sprints, hurdles and steeplechases. Notable also for the presence of a couple of black athletes, one of whom is pipped at the line in a well-filmed 880 yard race. The crowd is vast and BBC cameras are also there to record the action.
