Scott and the Flying Scotsman
Record-breaking aviators Jim Mollison and CWA Scott meet at Hanworth Aerodrome.
Overview
Record-breaking aviators Jim Mollison and CWA Scott meet at Hanworth Air Park, south-west London, in this British Screen News item. Glasgow-born Mollison is now best known for his troubled marriage to legendary aviator Amy Johnson, but was a newsworthy daredevil in his own right. The two men are seen here not long after Mollison had beaten Scott’s own recently-set record for flying from Australia to England, in July 1931. The aircraft in the foreground appears to be Scott’s de Havilland DH.60M Moth VH-UQA.
