Lucky Long Eaton woman wins £100 in a crossword competition and chooses to modernise her mangle and discard her dolly tub.

Wynn Davis stars in this promotional film for the Long Eaton Co-operative Society showing off the labour saving electrical goods available to the housewife. Designed to cut out some of the drudgery from Monday's wash day (Wynn is at it all day, from when she lights the fire to boil the water at six in the morning). With her new electrical appliances she can whizz through the wash even having time to stop to use her new toaster (her electricity bill might be a bit of a shock though).
