A simple - and simply mesmerising - film of waves breaking on a rocky shore.
Rough seas' films were made in some numbers in the 1890s and were hugely popular with audiences. This is one of only two that mentions rocky shores - as opposed to shingle or show piers or other coastal features. Could this be Hepworth's film, taken on the Cornish coast, in which "the effect of waves dashing up amongst jagged rocks... is very beautifully seen"?
