"It's still men who win coal": a look at the past, present and future of the coal industry.

Cinemagazine 1981 9 mins

Overview

Prospects are looking good for the coal industry, with productivity increasing despite the recession, and plenty of youngsters embarking on a career in coalmining. The National Mining Museum at Lound Hall, near Retford, provides training to aspiring miners, as well as exhibiting a wide range of mining artefacts to the public. There's also time for a sunny visit to Beamish Open Air Museum in County Durham.

A long-running monthly cinemagazine made for the National Coal Board, Review was initially known as Mining Review, and covered matters of the broadest mining interest. It ran from 1947 until 1983, with more than 400 issues released.
