Overview
A tour around Uttar Pradesh and into Uttarakhand in the company of Brigadier EJ Montgomery, a gifted amateur filmmaker. After a trip west to Bombay (Mumbai) to greet the arrival by P&O steamer of the Viceroy of India, Lord Willington, Montgomery heads north from his bungalow in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh to Dehradun in neighbouring Uttarakhand, and south east to Allahabad and Varanasi, taking in the imposing ruins of the Lucknow Residency and the magnificent Gold and Monkey temples.
Brigadier E.J. Montgomery, who shot this film, served in the Highland Light Infantry, and was also stationed in Bihar and Orissa (now Odisha), where he was on the staff of the Governor from 1928 to 1931.
