        Overview

The East Devon Hunt Meet gathers at Otterton for hunt trials. Horses and riders jump and gallop across the East Devon countryside near the River Otter and are scored for jumping abilities and grace.  This Meet and the Axe Valley Meet continue to keep up hunting traditions but there is a legal ban on fox hunting.

Otterton is located east of the River Otter a mile inland from the Jurassic Coast. The village boasts many 16th Century cob and thatched cottages. The Otterton Mill is listed in the Doomsday Book in 1086 given by King Henry V to the nuns of Syon Abbey. At the time of the Dissolution of the Monasteries the manor and mill were sold to Richard Duke and passed on to the Denys Rolle family and through marriage to the Clinton Family who still own it to this day. The mill was restored in 1977 and is the location of several businesses including a portable antiquities team who process local archaeological finds.
