Oatlands Village Coronation Celebrations.

Oatlands prepares for the Royal celebration in this film from 1953 where even the Queen herself makes a fleeting appearance.

The village of Oatlands prepares for the big day in 1953 with bunting and crowns decorating lamposts and buildings. Telegrams are received from Her Majesty while the children and the elderly are catered for with street parties and banquets. While children dance around a maypole the adults enjoy sack races, country dancing and three-legged races. The village elects its own Queen while the real Monarch glides past the village in her motorcade.
