New Craze
The latest craze comes to Greenford, as members of the local motorcycling club show off their dirt-track racing skills.
From the collection of:

Overview
Dirt-tracking racing, or speedway, came to Greenford from Australia and America in 1928, with the local racing club using their track – since demolished – for the sport from April 1928. Speedway – noisy, fast, modern and dangerous - was a hugely popular sport in London through the 1930s and 1940s, before decline set in. Here, racers are seen tearing around the track. Greenford now hosts the London Motorcycle Museum.
