Monday Morning
Crouch End prepares for the day in this charming amateur film of an average sunny morning
Overview
From the opening shot of Alexandra Palace, it's clear which London locale this amateur film is capturing. The milkman begins his deliveries and children make their way to school, but it's not all observational - scenes are edited to create the suggestion of small stories, such as the cat chasing pigeons. Crouch End Broadway and the clock tower are clearly recognisable, as is the familiar sight of people awaiting buses to Finsbury Park.
This film is from the Adams collection of family films, which were shot on 8mm in London and Northern Ireland and are now held in the BFI National Archive.
