Northern Ireland Screen's Digital Film Archive is a free public access resource for teachers, students, historians and anyone who has an interest in moving images. Spanning from 1897 to the present day, the films in the Digital Film Archive cover all aspects of life in Northern Ireland and includes everything from dramas to documentaries, newsreels and features, animation to amateur footage.

Overview
Be it the action taking place on the track, or the finery on display amongst the race-goers, the stakes are high in a film which provides an evocative snapshot of a day out at the Maze Races in the mid-Fifties. Glamorously-dressed women study the form guide, bookmakers are seen to do brisk business and spectators crowd close to the track as horses thunder around the oval track.
Rushes by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. The couple seen presenting the trophy at the film's conclusion are Lord and Lady Wakehurst. John de Vere Loder, 2nd Baron Wakehurst (5 February 1895 – 30 October 1970) was a British Colonial administrator and politician. He was Governor of Northern Ireland from 1952-64.
