Overview

Along with diamonds, real fur coats used to be at the top of many a lady's wish list and Norfolk mink farmer, Major James LeCock responded to the demand. At a price tag of around Ј2,000 per coat, this was certainly an expensive way to keep warm but it was big business. Reporter Bob Wellings visits the mink farm in Seething to follow the process from farm to furrier.

After UK mink farmers were subjected to almost daily protests, they agreed to shut down their farming in exchange for compensation in England and Wales in 2000.
