Lord Willingdon in India
Life for the Viceroy of India in the 1930s - captured in his own home movie
Overview
This personal film by Lord Willingdon (Viceroy of India from 1931-36) was shot in the early 1930s. This footage covers various locations and features some exhilarating motion shots taken from train journeys across the Indian countryside. Scenes at a race course, a zoo and an inspection of Indian troops complete the film, which ends with the pleasingly incongruous spectacle of four children whirling faster and faster around a wooden post.
