Overview

A courageous lifeboat crew is launched to the rescue from the idyllic lifeboat station at Sennen Cove in Cornwall. Join cliff-top observers as they watch these valiant volunteers embark on a rescue voyage and feel a sense of pride for the UK's selfless emergency services.

Sennen Cove's new slipway and boathouse were completed in 1929 and the Newbons lifeboat had its first service launches in the summer of 1930. On 23 June 1930, the Newbons was launched after reports that two men were in difficulty off Land's End Hotel and again on 2 July 1930, the lifeboat was called to the same area. The Newbons lifeboat was in service from May 1922 until August 1948.
