Julius Caesar

A selection of key scenes from Shakespeare’s Roman tragedy, in this American adaptation from 1908.

Historical drama 1908 12 mins Silent

A cut-price epic from America’s Vitagraph Studios, notable for its interesting use of low camera angles for the speeches to the crowd and the battle scenes. Several key scenes from the play are presented including Brutus addressing the crowds after Caesar’s murder, Caesar’s ghost visiting Brutus and Brutus falling on his sword.

The cast includes Charles Kent as Caesar, William V. Ranous as Cassius and what’s believed to be Earle Williams as Brutus.
