Holiday at Sutton on Sea
Knitted bathing costumes, ice creams, donkey rides and a chilly splash in the North Sea. Pre-war holiday memories for the Bolton family from Leicester.
From the collection of:

Overview
Situated two miles south of Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea is a small Lincolnshire holiday resort that is far away in spirit from the bustling entertainment centre of Skegness. Without an amusement arcade in sight, the Bolton family enjoy the simple pleasures of a donkey ride and an ice cream: a shared experience for millions of East Midlanders over the years who left the land-locked counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire in search of fun in the 'sun'.
