Staffordshire's top hairdressers are put through their paces in a competition at the Crystal Ballroom in Newcastle-under-Lyme. A few years before the bee-hive it's the shorter Italian inspired cuts that dominate as the hairdressers tease, curl and set their creations. For the men it's Brylcreem and sensible cuts - no rock 'n' roll quiffs for the fashion conscious chaps of the Potteries.
