Overview
Brian Hughes, MBE and a legend in the world of Manchester boxing, is renowned for mentoring young hopefuls at Collyhurst and Moston Boxing Club. This film from 1984 shows Hughes, a keen amateur boxer himself who grew up in the inner city area, training and encouraging his aspiring champions. We also follow boxer Paul James from the club through to a match at Manchester's Piccadilly Hotel.
This film was produced by undergraduate film students at Manchester Polytechnic, now Manchester Metropolitan University.
