Overview
Amateur footage of Delhi and Jaipur - ranging from a military review to an atmospheric torchlit procession, plus some armour-plated elephants. This footage was shot by Colonel George Craster, who had a long and distinguished career in the Indian Army. He retired in 1930 and became Chief Staff Officer of Jaipur State.
The events and places covered in this amateur film include: the Jubilee Review of 31st January 1935, with "C-in-C, Sir Philip Chetwode, and the Maharaja of Bikaner" inspecting the troops; a torchlight procession at Jaipur; Nagas dancing; elephant in silver-plated armour; Fatephur Sikri; the Wahanadi Poojun or worshipping of conveyances before the Maharaja of Jaipur; Jotwara; the country 'palace' outside Jaipur where the Craster family lived; Rajput warriors dressed as characters in the battle of Rajmahal; a procession in Jaipur.
