Death by Design

Dastardly deeds are afoot in a smog of pipe smoke when a man is found dead - is it cyanide poisoning or smoke inhalation?

Crime 1943 18 mins Silent

Overview

Dastardly deeds are clearly afoot when a man is found dead by his housekeeper - and all clues point to murder by cyanide poisoning. The two police officers assigned to this case could unmask the murderer with minimal effort - it's blindingly obvious - but instead they seem to devote most of their time to discussing pipe tobacco and smoking. Was this film promoted by some pipe smoking guild or manufacturer?
