Overview

This film takes an unusual approach to the 1969 Investiture: it celebrates the stones that form the mountains around Caernarfon and its castle, the architectural and decorative features of the town’s buildings, and the banners and bunting bedecking it. The suggestion is that the stones, the rocks of ages, have been in place long before - and will be in place long after – any events royal, political or religious.

This production was shot by students of the Newport Film Unit at Newport College of Art and Design and their tutor, Harley Jones, who worked as a film editor from 1963-1966 on John Grierson’s weekly Scottish Television programme entitled 'This Wonderful World' (it was broadcast also on the ITV regions e.g. Televison Wales and West). He was also the first course leader of the Newport Film Unit, from 1966-82.
