Church of St Laurence, Upminster

Located in the heart of Upminster, the Church of St Laurence is carefully documented by a local filmmaker.

St. Laurence’s Church was established by St Cedd in 653 AD. It is a Grade I listed building, and the tower (the oldest part of the church) dates back to the 12th century. The film is a precise tour of the church, both inside and out, with particular attention paid to the stain glass windows - the filmmaker notes one window bears the date 1630. The tour of the church is then followed by short trips to the nearby rectories.

This film is from the collection of Havering Local Studies and Family History Centre, a member of the London's Screen Archives Network.
